Objectives

The Department aims to educate clinical professional nurses who are competent and trusted by patients and their families, and the public. The core competencies of nursing students are developed, which include knowledge and skills of clinical nursing, basic biomedical sciences, communication and cooperation, critical thinking, caring, ethical, accountability, and lifelong learning capability.

Characteristics

The departmental characteristics are training students to be excellent nursing professionals with:

1.  The emphasis on the cultivation of humanities, and the promotion of the spirit of respect and love.

2.  The emphasis on professional knowledge and skill training, and clinical integration.

3.  Offering a well-appointed learning environment, which includes a clinical competence center, Gerontology Simulation Room, medical surgical nursing labs, obstetric labs, fundamental nursing labs and demonstration classrooms with multimedia audio tutorials. We also provide students with five basic medical educational labs to improve their fundamental medical knowledge.

4.  Approaches such as group discussions, role playing, teaching demonstrations, oral presentations, and the use of multi-media and virtual patient ward models are utilized.
